There are a lot factors that go into deciding which career is right for you. First, you want to take into account your interests, abilities, and values. Next, you’ll want to gather specific information about your potential career, such as employment outlook, typical job duties, and expected wages. ISEEK is a Minnesota web-based resource for career information. It offers free assessments to help you determine your career interests, skills, and values. It also contains career information including, typical job duties, employment outlook, and expected wages.
Career Assessment Inventory (CAI)
The CAI is a take-home assessment of interests and is available at the Admissions desk. You’ll receive an interpretation of your results during a personal appointment with a counselor. A $20 fee is charged.
World of Work Inventory (WOWI)
The WOWI is an assessment that measures your skills, interests, and values and matches your test results to the requirements of the many available careers. It helps you make the best and most informed career decisions. You’ll meet with a counselor for an interpretation of your results. A fee does apply. Please call to schedule: 320.308.5089.
Take a class
Career Exploration (CSSC 1300) is a one credit, elective class offered at SCTCC. It’s one of the most comprehensive ways of making an informed career decision. In addition to the assessment of your interests, a wider assessment of your values, preferences, aptitude, and goals is part of the experience. This is followed by in-depth analysis of some career choices as well as decision-making help.
