SCTCC’s Mary Stangler Center for Academic Success received level 1 international certification by the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA).
Since 1989, community college, college, and university tutorial programs in the United States and Canada have received tutor training certification through CRLA’s International Tutor Training Program Certification (ITTPC). More than 800 programs have been certified.
CRLA's tutor certification process sets an internationally accepted standard of skills and training for a program to certify.
Requirements for Level 1 Certification address:
► Compliance with federal copyright law
► Adherence to the Association of Tutoring Professional's Tutor Code of Ethics
► Tutor training standards for duration, topics, and modes of delivery
► Tutor experience, selection criteria and evaluation criteria.
The Mary Stangler Center for Academic Success (CAS) offers free tutoring for SCTCC students in academic courses, course software, and study skills for the academic environment.
During the 2011-12 academic year, the CAS served 1,092 unique visitors who spent a total of 6,548 hours with tutors.
