Women’s Center at St. Cloud State University organized a St. Cloud bus in partnership with the Minnesota coordinators for the national Women’s March on Washington who organized seven additional buses from Minnesota. enerous support of faculty, community members, we raised enough private dollars to fund a total of 27 students, including 3 middle and high school students who attended the march with their mothers. Nineteen faculty, mmunity members, plus four students froled up the rest of the bus. What a trip it was!
This historic march with 600,000 people in the streets of D.C., and over 5 million worldwide, left no doubt about the commitment and dedication or women’s, civil and human rights, and to defend our messy, and less-than-perfect, democracy. We marched, we chanted, we linked arms and hearts-- and we delighted in the thousands of messages on posters and signs that declared in no uncertain terms that we will speak up,back and never give up.
Join us as we talk about our reasons for riding 44 hours on the bus in order to march in Washington, what impact this collective action had on us, and what’s next on the agenda!
Presenters: Students, faculty, mmunity members who traveled to Washington, D.C. January 20 – 22, 2017, for the Women’s March on Washington.
