Set a goal to get off of probation - Indicate your Goal Statement:

Some strategies that may help you achieve your goal:

  • Analyze your budget and enrollment priorities.  It is difficult to work full time and attend college full time.  Choose one or the other as a part time commitment.
  • Plan your time carefully allowing for homework – 2 hours per credit per week
  • Plan for a class attendance rate of 95% or better.
  • Utilize the services of the Academic Achievement Center RM 1-112a for Study Skill improvement, Math, Writing and course specific tutoring.
  • Visit with a SCTCC Counselor to determine a career direction or take CSSC Career Exploration for 1 credit next term.
  • Meet with the Counselor for Students with Disabilities to discuss possible accommodations available to students with documented disabilities
  • Continue with the personal adjustments you have made to help you achieve your goals.
  • Retaking failed courses next term, if possible, will help improve your GPA quicker and help you get off of Academic Probation for GPA more quickly

Avoid Suspension

  • Each semester that you are on probation you must earn a 2.0 GPA or above until cumulative reaches 2.0 or better, and satisfactorily complete 67% of your attempted credits each semester to avoid suspension.  You will need a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or better to graduate.

Choose Success

  • You will need to change what you are doing to change the outcome of your next semester.  Choose success strategies that make sense for you and ask for help if needed.  Instructors, advisors, counselors, and Academic Achievement Center staff are available to help you succeed.  Let someone know how to help you.
