Cardiovascular Technology - Admissions
The Cardiovascular Technology program uses a selective process and there is no wait list for this program. Completing the prerequisite courses does not guarantee acceptance into the program. The following information will guide you through the process:
Admissions Process
- Review the Cardiovascular Technology information on the website and the Program Admissions information below.
- Attend a Cardiovascular Technology Information Meeting.
- Apply to SCTCC and declare a HCT/Invasive Major. The steps to apply can be found via the Cardiovascular Technology program Academic Advising link.
- Plan which classes to take and in what order, based on your schedule, class availability and prerequisites classes. Know your program prerequisites and which classes you need to take. - Registered HCT/CVT students meet with their advisor each semester to go over their proposed course schedule for the following semesters and to obtain their registration access code for the following semesters.
Admissions Information
- Applicants may apply only after successful completion of 2 of the 4 courses listed in this requirement and all 4 courses must be completed prior to starting the program. Applicants who have courses in progress will be considered but preference is given to applicants that have the prerequisite courses completed.
- Applicants can apply to the program during the open enrollment period, 3rd Tuesday of September until February 1 of the following year.
- Official transcripts must be attached to college application (visit www.sctcc.edu to obtain an application form).
- Applicants must be a high school graduate or GED equivalent.
- A cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher from the pre-admission classes is required and a GPA of 2.0 must be maintained in the general education coursework to be considered for admission.
- Applicants must have current CPR, Healthcare Provider.
- Applicants must be vaccinated against Hepatitis B or sign a release form. HBV series must be completed prior to students starting the Spring Semester of the 2nd year.

Fall semester 2011 start: Open application period: 3rd Tuesday of September through February 1st, 2011.
