Nursing Assistant
The Nursing Assistant/Home Health Aide course prepares the students to provide 60 care-giving skills in a supervised simulation laboratory and in an actual work environment. This Minnesota Department of Health approved course prepares the student to complete a written and skills test in order to be placed on the State Registry and work as a Nursing Assistant and/or Home Health Aide. Attendance of 75 hours or more of the Nursing Assistant portion of the course is mandatory. A Minnesota background check is also required.
Upon completion of all class hours, students will be eligible to take the state exam offered at St. Cloud Technical and Community College (cost is $175) and upon passing, will be recognized by the state of Minnesota in its registry of Nursing Assistants/Home Health Aides.
This course provides students with an opportunity to learn how to provide direct patient care. Many of the SCTCC Health and Human Services Division Programs have Program Applications that use point scales where direct patient care experience may assist someone in apply to a program.
