Admissions Process

  • Review the Paramedicine website information for Program Admissions Criteria
  • Attend a Paramedicine Information Meeting
  • Apply to SCTCC and declare a HCT/Paramedicine Major.  The steps to apply to SCTCC are available on the Paramedicine Academic Advising link.
  • If you have a valid MN EMT-B certificate and are already certified, please email the Enrollment Specialist and Brad Wright (both emails are listed in the Paramedicine Contact link.)
  • Plan which classes to take and in what order, based on your schedule, class availability and prerequisites classes.  Know your program prerequisites and which classes you need to take.  See the Paramedicine Academic Advising Worksheet on the Paramedicine Academic Advising link.
  • Contact or meet with the HCT/Paramedicine Enrollment Specialist each semester if you are uncertain of which classes to take or if you need help understanding if you meet the Admissions Criteria.

Admissions Criteria

  • Current certification for CPR for Healthcare Provider and EMT Basic (MN EMSRB EMT-B)
  • Medical Terminology HLTH 1440 - 1 cr
  • (It is recommended that students have BLGY 1351 or A/P coursework completed)

Recommended Electives

It is highly recommended that the recommended electives are completed before starting the program:

  • Humanities Elective - 3 cr
  • Psychology Elective - 3 cr
  • Written Communications Elective - 4 cr
  • Anatomy and Physiology 1 BLGY 2310 - 4 cr (General Biology BLGY 1351 is the prerequisite to A/P 1)
  • Anatomy and Physiology 2 BLGY 2320 - 4 cr (A/P 1 is the prerequisite to A/P 2)
