Library FAQ

How do I log in to the computers?
Your student I.D. and password are used to log into the computers.  Your login information is the same as you use for registration.

How do I search for books?
MnPALS is the online library catalog.  To search the catalog, click on the link on the library homepage.

My instructor put something on reserve, where do I find it?
Reserves are given to the library by faculty for use by their students.  They are located at the circulation desk.

How do I check out reserves?
Reserves can be checked out for In-Library-Use only using your student I.D. card.

Can I check out videos, DVDs or CDs?
Videos, DVDs and CDs can be checked out to faculty, staff, and students for one week.

How long do books check out for?
Books check out for 3 weeks.  This excludes Reference books which are in library use only.

Does the library have a copier?
The library has a copier.  Copies cost $0.10 per copy.

Can I print or copy in color?
The library does not have a color printer or copier.

Where can I get help with research?
Stop by the circulation desk and ask the Library Technician or one of the student workers for general library research assistance.  For more in-depth reference or research questions, please see the Librarian or the Library Director.

Can books be renewed from home?
Yes, call the circulation desk at 320-308-5141 or email librarian@sctcc.edu with your renewal request.

Can I use the library databases when I am off-campus?
Yes, the library databases are accessible from home.  You will need your Student ID which has your library barcode.

Do I need a student I.D. to check out books and other library materials?
Your Student ID is also your library card.  You are expected to have it to check out books and other library materials.

Can I check out magazines?
You may check out older editions of magazines for 1 week.  Current issues may not be checked out of the library.
