SCTCC alums Gary Posch ’92 and Joe Sexton ’88 purchased the St. Cloud River Bats and pitched a new baseball brand this season: the St. Cloud Rox.
Posch, a graduate in Sales, and Sexton, a graduate of xxx, teamed up to purchase Brandl Motors of Pierz in 1999. They have grown the business from 4 full-time employees to almost 70 with dealership operations in Little Falls and St Cloud.
In their new venture, Posch serves as president of the St. Cloud Rox. Sexton is a partner in the Northwoods League affiliate.
Once the ownership group was announced in January, the team hosted a contest where fans could submit name ideas. More than 1,200 submissions were received, many of which suggested the name Rox. The team name had been in use previously by a team who was part of the Northern League that was in operation from the mid 1940’s until 1971.
The St. Cloud Rox kicks off their inaugural season May 30 and will start their home schedule with a bang June 2 with a fireworks show. The Rox will continue to play at Joe Faber Field for the 2012 season.
