Grainger is investing in the future of the workforce and addressing the growing shortage of trained trades professionals through its Grainger Tools for Tomorrow® scholarship program. Two students from St. Cloud Technical & Community College will be recipients of the scholarship.
The Grainger Tools for Tomorrow® scholarship program awards financial assistance for tuition and books to outstanding students earning an associate’s degree or certificate in the fields of electrical, plumbing, welding, facilities maintenance, machine technology, electronic systems, automotive repair and other industrial programs.
For the 2013-2014 academic year, Grainger offered 100 community colleges across the U.S. two $2,000 scholarships for students enrolled in industrial trades program. One-half of the scholarships awarded each year are reserved for military veteran students.
In addition to financial support, Grainger provides each graduating scholarship recipient with a Westward® toolkit to help launch the graduate’s professional career in the chosen field of expertise.
Since 2006, Grainger contributed more than $2 million in support of technical education through its partnership with the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) to provide more students access to skilled trades jobs and technical education. Grainger also has invested in SCTCC's most recent DRIVEN campaign for newly expanded labs in Medium Heavy Truck and Autobody Collision Repair.
SCTCC students can apply for the scholarships through the general online scholarship application. Scholarship applications are being accepted until June 1, 2014 for academic year 2014-15.
