MnSCU - D2L Known Issues Page

The following are issues identified by the Office of the Chancellor - in an email dated June 29, 2009.

D2L 8.4 MR1 Major Outstanding Issues 
 

1. Links to media files fail to play the associated file.  File types reported include .wav .wma .wmv .avi 
   We are still working with D2L for resolution of this problem, which we have indicated is a high priority for our users.   Workarounds:  in some cases it works to resave the file with lowercase extension--i.e., rename paleontology.WAV to paleontology.wav
   Another workaround is to create a new HTML file in Content and embed the media file--complete steps are in the Known Issues list at mnscuims.mnscu.edu
    
2. Links to Impatica files fail to play.  A workaround is to link to the associated .jar file.  
   This is actually the result of tightened security in version 8.4, so we do not expect this issue to be "fixed."  Instead, users should be advised to link to the .jar file.
    
3. Quiz imports from multiple publisher types fail to import the question responses in several question types, including multiple choice and true/false.  
   A hotfix was taken into QA, and preliminary tests show it fixes the problem except for T/F questions, which still don't display the question responses. 
   This is also a high priority issue. MR2 (available now) should include a complete fix for all question types. We will test in QA before taking into Production.
    
4. Quiz feedback problems include three aspects of similar issues: 
   Question feedback created during quiz grading does not save. 
   Question feedback in pre-existing quizzes has disappeared from some courses.
   Question feedback in the question editor does not save in some cases. 
   D2L has a hotfix which will fix at least one of the issues with question feedback (inability to save feedback during quiz grading).
