Goal Setting

Everyone has goals; whether they are SMART is another matter. During this session, students will learn how to create SMART goals, discuss what motivation factors boost chances of achieving goals, and consider stresses and challenges that hinder success.

Motivation, Focus, and Concentration

Can’t seem to concentrate? This session will: discuss obstacles of concentrating and staying motivated and provide strategies that help with increased focus and concentration.

Stress Reduction

Attending college is a wonderful way to improve yourself and advance in your career; however, college can also bring with it more stress. In this workshop, you will learn what causes stress and how to handle it.

Study Strategies

We all know that we need to study in college, but how can we make our time studying most effective? In the Study Strategies workshop, you will learn various tips for improving your study habits.

Technology 101

At SCTCC, students have a lot of great resources available to them, but it can be a lot to manage as well. In the Technology 101 workshop, you will learn basic information about the different software and applications available to students.

Test Anxiety

Stressing about final exams? Or tests in general? Attend this session to: learn what test anxiety is, determine if you suffer from test anxiety, and discuss the causes of test anxiety.  Tips on how to handle test anxiety will also be provided.

Test Prep

This session will review the concepts of being a well prepared test taker. Session objectives include: planning to prepare early, reviewing test preparation resources, reviewing test preparation tips, and discussing how to prepare both mentally and physically.

Test Taking

Even with solid preparation, there are important strategies to know for how to make the most of the test-taking experience. Session objectives include: providing tips about getting off to a good start, providing test taking tips, discussing specific types of tests and test questions.

Time Management

For many students, finding enough time for all of their responsibilities can be a challenge. In the Time Management workshop, you will learn how to prioritize your time and manage it effectively.
