Make sure you know your StarID and password. You will use this unique StarID throughout your time at SCTCC. If you have attended another Minnesota State college or university, you will use the same StarID and password – you do not need to create a new one.
- Go to https://starid.minnstate.edu/ to activate your StarID and create a password if you have not done so already.
- You will need your Tech ID located at the top of the letter or email you receive from SCTCC.

Visit Orientation and Registration to complete eOrientation. eOrientation will help you become familiar with SCTCC services and the processes that you’ll use often while you’re at SCTCC.
At the end of eOrientation, you will be able to sign up for an appointment to meet with an academic advisor. We offer in-person and Zoom meetings. You'll need access to a computer, phone, or other device with internet access to participate in the Zoom meeting.
- If you plan to use financial aid, complete your FAFSA to get the process started.

Fall semester start technical programs have Advising & Registration sessions starting in April. Registering for classes early means you get the classes you need.
There are also required Program Orientation sessions that are held in June. The Program Orientation is a time to chat about any tool or technology needs, meet your classmates, tour lab spaces, and connect with your instructors and advisors.
