After some tough judging, the 2019 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Art Contest awarded its winners and participants at a ceremony on Feb. 6. The theme this year was based on the quote: "Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter."
The first place went to Bekah Phifer with "Silence Kills"
Second place was a tie:
- Caroline Kriske with "Speak"
- Stephanie Pencock with "Time for Change"
Third place went to Tasha Densen-Byers with "Charlottesville: When they go low, we go high"
Additional participants included:
- Destiny Vickers
- Miriam Hernandez
- Nina Rothstein-Rohloff
