SCTCC Cyclones Softball clinched the Region XIIIA title for a trip to the NJCAA DIII National Tournament May 23-25 in Rochester, MN.

The Cyclones played in the NJCAA DIII Region XIIIA tournament last weekend, coming out on top in the double-elimination tournament.

They met Ridgewater first thing and won 13-5, but then the ladies lost to Anoka-Ramsey in the second game of the tournament with a close 10-11. The Cyclones blew back to take the title, winning three games on Friday, with a 14-2 win over Ridgewater, a 6-5 win over Anoka-Ramsey, and another 10-6 win over Anoka-Ramsey.

“This team battled all year,” said Coach Greg Thorstad. “Winning the Conference on the last day of the season and coming back to win Region's having to win 3 games on the last day - they have truly earned their trip to Nationals! I am extremely proud of this team and can't wait to see what they can do at Nationals.”

Cyclones McKenzie Ebert, Regan Jastram, and Sam Patton were all named to the MCAC All State Team and Coach Thorstad was named the MCAC Southern Division Coach of the Year.

The National Tournament will start May 23, with SCTCC taking on #2 Herkimer at noon. The Cyclones have the #7 seed in the tournament. Please visit http://njcaa.org/sports/sball/2018-19/div3/national_championship/index for the bracket and seeding information.
