SCTCC is implementing masking requirements effective Monday, Aug. 2, 2021 at the direction of Minnesota State and guidance from the CDC and Minnesota Dept. of Health.

The CDC and MDH recently updated guidance recommending everyone, regardless of vaccination status, wear face coverings when in public indoor settings located in counties with substantial or high transmission levels. Stearns County and all counties contiguous to it are currently at substantial or high transmission levels. You can view the CDC COVID Data Tracker here.

SCTCC is located in a region with low COVID vaccination rates in the age group 18-24. The College plans to host vaccination clinics and continues to share with SCTCC community members that the most effective strategy for reducing the spread of COVID-19 is to vaccinate, it is important to implement masking requirements to protect those community members who are not vaccinated, cannot vaccinate due to being immunocompromised, or have health conditions that put them at greater risk.

As stated by Chancellor Malhotra in recent communications regarding COVID-19 Masking Guidance for the Fall Semester, “We must remain attentive and vigilant in focusing on our two priorities: protecting the health and safety of our students, faculty, and staff, and supporting our students as they continue progress towards their educational goals.” Implementing a masking requirement ensures that we mitigate the spread of COVID and minimize disruption to our students’ educational progress.

SCTCC continues to monitor and assess COVID-19 case rates and vaccination rates and adjusts mitigation strategies accordingly, following CDC and MDH guidance. Information regarding vaccination clinics on campus and will be provided as those dates are established.
