SCTCC was named the 13th best community college in the country and the fifth best in Minnesota in 2018 by Wallet Hub.
The study focused on three metrics to come up with the overall rank: cost and financing, education outcomes, and career outcomes. WalletHub selected 715 colleges from the list of institutions in the American Association of Community Colleges.
Cost and financing included items like tuition cost, work study availability, school spending efficiency, average grant/scholarship received, and faculty salaries.
Education outcomes included first-year retention rate, graduation rate, transfer rate, and share of full-time faculty.
Career outcomes included return on educational investment, student-loan default rate, median salary after attending, and share of former student earnings above high school grads’ average earning.
Data was collected from the National Center for Education Statistics, US News, US Department of Education, Council for Community and Economic Research, and College Measures. To view the full methodology, click here.
Minnesota State was named the second-best system in the country, which is based off the college-level scores.
SCTCC has been consistently ranked highly on several national two-year college lists, a good reminder of how SCTCC is committed to student success and meeting industry needs.
