By SCTCC President Annesa Cheek
It is with great pleasure and tremendous excitement that I announce Daniel Larson as the new Interim Executive Director of the SCTCC Foundation, effective October 18, 2021. This is a two-year interim assignment.
Many of you may already know Daniel, who is currently the Executive Director of United Way of Central Minnesota’s Partner for Student Success. I am confident that Daniel is well suited for his role with the SCTCC Foundation. He is a seasoned executive level leader and thought partner with demonstrable experience in strategic planning, fundraising, board development, staff development, and community relations, all of which are critical to meeting our current needs.
David Borgert, President of the SCTCC Foundation said, “President Cheek’s choice for the next Executive Director of the Foundation is a great move. Daniel Larson will be well positioned to provide leadership for the Board as we move forward. I have been privileged to work with Daniel on projects for United Way and I look forward to welcoming him to the Foundation in mid-October. I know that you join me in welcoming him."
In working with the Executive Leadership of the SCTCC Foundation, we agreed that it was vital for the Foundation to have:
- An experienced, strategic collaborator and liaison, to successfully orient all of us for donor engagements;
- A “leader of leaders” to assist the Foundation Board in developing, implementing and administering programs such as general endowments, major gifts, planned giving, capital campaigns, scholarships, and other donor-centered programs, with oversight, recognition, and reporting of the same; and
- A skilled professional to effectively engage employees and alumni as part of a diverse giving portfolio
Daniel Larson is that person.
The College and Foundation are a dynamic team and what we can accomplish together is immense. As the College President, I am grateful for the tremendous investments the Foundation has solicited and provided over the years. Such investments merit an equally outstanding leader so that even more students may realize the benefits of postsecondary education and training, in fulfilling their personal and career endeavors. I am confident that Daniel Larson is the right individual for this role and someone who will help facilitate the College and the Foundation in furthering a dynamic growth-oriented relationship that will benefit our students in meaningful ways.
Daniel will help galvanize the tremendously strong and prevalent SCTCC alumni base within the community, reengage and support new alumni in unique yet mutually beneficial ways, as well as provide employees more opportunities to provide support. Daniel is known for his passion in supporting youth and their families, and is no stranger to the St. Cloud community. He is a bright and talented professional with a diverse background. Daniel has experience as a professional salmon fisherman and has also served as a Program Director for the Salvation Army’s South Los Angeles Youth and Community Center. This work led to him to become the Extended Program and Facilities Director for San Francisco’s Children’s Day School, which then positioned him well to become United Way of Central Minnesota’s Vice President of Community Impact, prior to his current position with Partner for Student Success.
Please be sure to welcome Daniel. He can be found at Daniel.email@example.com.
