The 2018 Cyclones Volleyball team wrapped up the season last Friday at the MCAC South Region Tournament when they faced Rochester in the first match of the weekend. The Cyclones were the #4 seed in the MCAC South Region Tournament while RCTC was the #1 seed.
The Cyclones fell in 3 sets; 13-25, 14-25, 18-25. Stat leaders for the Cyclones included Grace Mauersberger and Megan Schoborg with 6 kills each. First year setters Jenna Scott and Paige Serbus earned a combined 21 set assists. Libero, Tori Nelson earned 9 digs. Schoborg also scored 2 aces and Mauersberger collected 2 blocks.
Jenna Scott earned All-Tournament Team honors.
Rilee Hohbein, from Holdingford, was named to the MCAC Volleyball Southern All-Division First Team, and Grace Mauersberger, from St. Michael, and Page Serbus, from Olivia, were named to the Second Team.
Hohbein (pictured) was named to the MCAC All-State Volleyball First Team.
The Cyclones completed their season with a record of 11-12 overall and 6-6 in conference.
The Cyclones Volleyball consists of all freshman, and Coach Heidi Smith is optimistic about next year: "I am very proud of this team. They are a hardworking, coachable group with great energy. Having an all first-year team this year, the future looks bright."
