On Tuesday, Nov. 7, The Tee It Up for The Troops foundation presented the HomeFront Resource Center with a grant of more than $10,000.
“We are honored to have been selected by the Tee It Up for the Troops foundation for this financial support. This is the second time our organization has benefitted from their generosity and we are very grateful for this contribution,” said Maureen Gaedy, board member of the HomeFront Resource Center.
The funds presented were raised from an annual golf tournament fundraiser that Tee It Up for the Troops has sponsored for the past three years.
“We’re very honored to be a part of this and make a donation to this great cause. We hope to continue donations as the [golf] event gains popularity,” said Pau Nelson, the president of the Minnesota chapter of Tee It Up for the Troops.
Tarryl Clark, chair of the HomeFront Resource Center, was also on hand.
"We’re really excited to be recipients of resources through Tee It Up for the Troops. It really makes a difference in our community,” she said. “It will help us continue our mission, which is to be the voice, educator, and connector for our veterans, servicemembers, and their families in the region.”
SCTCC hosts the HomeFront Resource Center facility on campus in the Heartland Building after offering the space to the center in 2014. By proposing to host the center, the college recognized that providing educational resources is an important step that vets will need to take.
Today, the HomeFront Resource Center provides information, resources, and referrals to veterans, servicemembers, and their families. The center also hosts an annual Veterans’ Award Ceremony to recognize the significant contributions of student-veterans and other Central Minnesota vets.
