Everything Starts with Safety

All employees, students, and campus visitors will be required to wear masks when on campus.

We are putting our students' health and safety first - please check out the safety measures below on the best practices for students as well as employees.

All students, visitors, and employees of SCTCC will need to complete a Health Screening before coming on campus.

Masks or face coverings can help control the spread of infection from people who may be asymptomatic.

Please bring your masks with you to campus. Masks will be required of all students and all employees while on campus. This includes all classrooms, labs, and common spaces such as hallways, office suites, and the commons. Exceptions have been made in areas where wearing a mask poses a safety/health risk for the user due to the nature of their work. Masks or cloth face coverings can help with preventing your germs from infecting others – especially in situations where you may spread the virus without symptoms. 

  • Wearing a mask or cloth face covering does not protect you from others who may spread the virus. Wash your hands frequently, cover your cough, and practice physical distancing by keeping at least 6 feet of space between people. 
  • Wearing a mask or cloth face covering does not mean people who are sick should go out into the community. If you are sick and need to go to the doctor, call your health care provider before going in and wear a mask or cloth face covering to the clinic. 
  • Don’t buy or wear surgical or N95 masks. These supplies are in high need in health care facilities to protect health care workers. 
  • A mask or cloth face covering should not be placed on young children under age 2, anyone who has trouble breathing, or anyone who is unconscious, incapacitated or otherwise unable to remove the mask or cloth face covering without assistance.  

If you need a mask, the Bookstore will have some for purchase, and watch for special promotions where you can pick up a Cyclones mask.

Non-Compliance

Students must comply with the face mask requirement when attending face-to-face classes at SCTCC unless you have an approved exception.

If you're interacting with someone who doesn't have an exception and they refuse to put on a mask, you can call for assistance with the situation:

Exceptions

If you have a medical accommodation request to be exempted from wearing a mask, you will need to get in touch with the Accessibility Services office at 320-308-5757 or email acc@sctcc.edu.

    Before coming to campus, ask yourself the following questions:

    1. Do you have a new cough?
    2. Do you have shortness of breath?
    3. Do you feel you have a fever?
    4. Are you experiencing: lost sense of taste or smell, increased fatigue, new body aches, diarrhea, chills, sore throat, headache, or chest pain?

    What you need to know about COVID-19

    If any student has a confirmed case of COVID-19, please let your instructor know right away and stay in self-quarantine for 14 days. Instructors will let SCTCC Security know of the case, and if that student has been on campus, Security will work to inform those who have been in contact with the person with COVID-19. Information on the case will be sent out campuswide via Star Alert and email.

    Minnesota State has developed a dashboard for reporting the COVID-19 case data that is impacting the colleges, universities, and the system office. The dashboard is updated weekly and serves as a tool to inform campus communities about changes in COVID-19 cases and community spread and aid campus leadership decision making.     Regular housekeeping practices have been implemented, including routine cleaning and disinfecting of work surfaces, equipment, tools and machinery, vehicles and areas in the campus environment, including classrooms, labs, restrooms, common areas, break rooms, lunch rooms, and meeting rooms daily.  Self-care or personal employee responsibility may be utilized for frequent cleaning and disinfecting practices; conducted in high-touch areas, such as phones, keyboards, touch screens, controls, door handles, elevator panels, railings, copy machines, etc. as needed for personal safety.

    Facilities will do an extensive daily cleaning of campus facilities.  The College encourages employees and students to self-care clean and disinfect their personal space and work areas.  Cleaning and disinfecting supplies will be available for people to self-care their workspace upon arrival at work, and as needed throughout the work shift.  Common areas frequently used will have cleaning and disinfection supplies available to clean prior to and after each use if needed.  Employees are encouraged to disinfect equipment and supplies as needed to make their work environment safe. 

    • Each office suite and classroom will be issued a bottle of appropriate disinfectant based on CDC guidelines.  This bottle will be refilled by Facilities staff upon request by calling 320-308-3382.   
    • Review product labels and Safety Data Sheets and follow manufacturer specifications. 
    • Establish a disinfection routine, both facilities employees and self-care. 

    All contact surfaces should be disinfected regularly.

    People in office spaces, classrooms, labs, and shops should keep a distance of 6 feet from each other.

    • Employees and students are asked to maintain six feet of distance between employees, students, contractors and visitors. 
    • Cloth face coverings must be worn for spaces in hallways, restrooms, common areas and when in office suites where physical distancing cannot be maintained. 
    • Points of contact on campus that require face-to-face interaction can have Plexiglas installed at that point of contact.  A SchoolDude maintenance request must be submitted to review this request. 
    • Students, visitors and customers will be encouraged to make appointments to meet with instructors and staff where in-person meetings may be required. One-on-one meetings may be conducted in person with physical distancing, or on the phone, or virtually using mediums such as Zoom or Microsoft Teams.   
    • Employees should be encouraged to use virtual meeting tools, including phone and virtual teleconference, in lieu of in-person meetings whenever possible. 
    • If in-person meetings are essential, consider limitations based on CDC guidelines, and/or local, state, and federal guidelines from Department of Health. 
    • Lingering and socializing before and after meetings should be discouraged.  
    • Office spaces, classrooms, labs and shops must maintain six feet of physical distancing and may not exceed the capacity limits established by Minnesota Department of Health.  Deans and supervisors should contact Facilities Maintenance in advance of occupancy to conduct room surveys to develop a plan to maintain these distancing requirements. 
    • Vehicles will only be signed out to single occupants and cleaned and disinfected by each user with the disinfectant provided in each vehicle. No food containers, pens, phone cables or personal items can be left in the vehicle at any time. 
    • Employees, students and visitors are prohibited from gathering in groups and confined areas, including elevators, and from using other employees’ personal protective equipment, phones, computer equipment, desks, cubicles, workstations, offices or other personal work tools and equipment unless authorized. 
    • Students and employees are asked to request support and/or to present any COVID-19 related concerns to their instructor or supervisor.  

    Academics

    When it comes to your classes, the best way to find out if they'll be online or in person is to check "Delivery Method" when registering in eServices.

    If the Delivery Method is blank, that means your class will be face-to-face or in person.  

    Definitions

    What do each of the Delivery Methods mean?

    Online – asynchronous: A traditional online course. You can learn at your own pace and when it's convenient for you by logging in any day at any time to do your work, as long as you complete assignments and exams by their due dates.

    Online – synchronous: Class will meet online during dates and times listed.

    Mostly Online: Students will have 1-4 meetings face-to-face over the course of the semester. Dates are listed on schedule. Some of these meetings may be for exams.

    Blended/Hybrid: Class will meet with a mixture of online and face-to-face. Face-to-face meeting dates are listed on the schedule. Some courses may be divided into groups and students may only have to come to class some of the course days listed. Unless otherwise instructed, students should come to class on campus the first day and teachers will explain how the semester will work. As we get closer to the first day of classes, be sure to monitor your e-mail and D2L for more specific information about your classes.

    HyFlex: Students can opt to take the class face-to-face, online, or hybrid, as it works for your schedule. Lectures will be streamed so you can participate synchronously – checking the NOTES section of the class when you register is helpful to learn more about how each class will be offered. This is a very flexible way for students to take classes, as you can move between different ways of learning and find out what works best for you.

    Face-to-face: A traditional on campus class that meets in person. Face-to-face classes will be limited to a maximum of 25 students. Students and instructors in the classroom will follow social distancing guidelines.

You should also check the NOTES section of your courses to make sure you know everything you need to know about the class.

    The info we provide can change, and we will do our best to keep it updated. Make sure to watch your email and course schedule.

    If you’re in one of the business, IT, or education programs, here’s how your classes will look this semester. If you’re also taking general classes such as English or mathematics, those courses might be offered in an online format. Be sure to check your schedule for your classes.

    The Health Sciences programs will continue to present a mix of online and face-to-face classes. If you are also taking general classes such as English or mathematics, those courses might be offered in any format. Be sure to check your schedule for your classes.

    Please note that the parking places on the North side of the HSB continue reserved for Dental Clinic patients and are not to be used by faculty, staff, or students.

    Please double check the Delivery Method when you are registering for class.

    • Cardiovascular Technology: Some classes with both online and face-to-face components with groups of no more than 25. Simulated lab with be face-to-face.  Students and instructors will wear masks and the classroom doors will be open as much as possible
    • Dental Assistant: Dental Assistant: Students will have face to face labs and clinical courses. Lecture classes will utilize hybrid/blended or face to face delivery methods as noted in the course schedule. On campus classes will be in groups of no more than 25, students, and faculty will follow masking protocol while in lecture courses. Lab and clinical courses will be face to face with appropriate PPE consistent with professional practice in dental offices. 
    • Dental Hygiene: Students will have face-to-face labs and clinical classes.  Lecture classes will utilize hybrid synchronous, hybrid asynchronous and F2F delivery methods. Students are advised to check course schedules for dates and delivery methods. On-campus classes will be in groups of no more than 25, and students, staff and instructors wearing masks.  Labs and clinical courses will be face-to-face with PPE use (Level 3 masks, face shields and overgowns) consistent with CDC (Centers for Disease Control), Minnesota Board of Dentistry guidelines for dental offices, and OSAP (Organization for Safety & Asepsis Procedures) Infection Control in Dental Practices during the COVID-19 Pandemic Guidelines.
    • Dental ClinicPlease review the precautions taken to ensure a healthy, safe experience for patients, students, and instructors
    • Health Information Technology: This program (and Medical Coding) has been a completely online program and will continue online.
    • Sonography: Face-to-face and hybrid classes will be held for lecture classes with no more than 12 in a group. Students and instructors will wear masks. The ultrasound lab classes will be face-to-face following PPE practices consistent with CentraCare recommended guidelines. Labs will be limited to 12 students.
    • Surgical Technology: Students will meet face-to-face or via Zoom for one lecture class with no more than 25 in a group. Students and instructors will wear masks and practice social distancing. The O.R. Clinical Lab course is off campus. PPE practices will be consistent with Surgical Attire Policies of the industry.
    • Paramedicine: Some hybrid online lecture courses as possible and some face-to-face classes with no more than 25 in a group. Students and instructors will wear masks and gloves when on-campus for lab classes that cannot be moved online.
    • Nursing (ADN):  The Nursing theory classes will be delivered as a flipped classroom, and lectures will be available online to allow for asynchronous learning while maintaining consistency for all students. Once a week on Thursdays, students will meet face-to-face or via Zoom for group activities, group discussion, and questions. Students will be divided into two groups to allow for social distancing when face to face for the scheduled on-campus classes. Clinicals will be a combination of face to face simulation and hospital/clinic rotations which may include online clinical as needed. Students will be divided appropriately for social distancing
    • Practical Nursing: Spring semester for the Practical Nursing program: lecture classes may be synchronous (live and scheduled) via a Zoom format or face to face on campus.  As a reminder, the lecture courses include PRSG 2401, 2402, 2409, 2411, 2429, 2450 and 2460. Students are expected to attend and participate in all classes regardless of format (for Zoom courses, you may choose to participate from home or campus) For all class lectures regardless of format, the expectation is that ALL enrolled students will be present and participate in classes at the regularly scheduled times. Nursing Skills courses (PRSG 2419) will be in person, with all students attending; once on campus and in the labs, students will be split with ½ in lab and ½ in classroom; check with faculty as you arrive. 

      Clinical I (PRSG 2439) is set for Thursdays and Fridays, and clinical II (PRSG 2440) for Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays with various prescheduled shifts. Students who are not in a clinical setting will be assigned virtual work to reinforce learning outcomes. All exams will be taken at the regularly scheduled times. Tests can be done on campus or remotely and you will need either a laptop with a camera, a web-cam, or an iPad. When on campus, you will need to wear your mask and follow the physical distancing guidelines at all times (even in the computer labs).  

    The manufacturing, construction, and transportation programs have a mix of face-to-face and online courses. If you’re also taking general classes such as English or mathematics, those courses might be offered in an online format. Be sure to check your schedule for your classes.

    • Architectural Construction Technology: Classes will be primarily face-to-face with some lectures online. Students and instructors will wear masks while on-campus.
    • Auto Body Collision Technology: Classes will be primarily face-to-face with some lectures online. Students and instructors will wear masks while on-campus.
    • Automotive Service Technician: Classes will be primarily face-to-face with some lectures online. Students and instructors will wear masks while on-campus.
    • Carpentry: Classes will be primarily face-to-face with some lectures online. Students and instructors will wear masks while on-campus.
    • CNC & Advanced Machining: Classes will be primarily face-to-face with some lectures online. Students and instructors will wear masks while on-campus.
    • Computer-Aided Mechanical Design: Classes will be primarily face-to-face with some lectures online. Students and instructors will wear masks while on-campus.

    • All tutoring through the CAS will be going online as of November 30th
    • There will be no more face to face tutoring available in the CAS after November 25th

    The 2020-2021 winter sports, men's and women's basketball, have been cancelled. At this time, the spring sports of baseball and softball are schedule to move forward.

    What your job will be like depends on who you are working for. If your job can be done remotely, your supervisor will work with you on how that will look.


    Campus Services

    You've got your classes all set and figured out how to access the services to help you with your education. Now what about all the other services that you need to be successful?

    The best way to get your textbooks is to order them online through the SCTCC Bookstore. To avoid lines and to get the best selections of used textbooks, we encourage students to buy early and buy online. Please provide a valid street address with all orders, for shipping purposes.

    You have 2 ways to pick up your order:

    1. Pay online, shipped to your home.
    2. Pay online, pick up in store.

    If you’re coming on campus to get your books, please bring a copy of your class schedule to drop off at the Bookstore. Your books will be picked by the Bookstore staff – only Bookstore staff will be allowed in the textbook aisles. PSEO books will be packed by the Bookstore and students will be notified when they can pick them up. Fall 2020 books must be returned before PSEO students can receive Spring 2021 books. 

    A max of 10 customers can be in the Bookstore at any time, and the registers will all have plexiglass barriers installed. Decals on the floor will show you where to stand for social distancing. Staff and students will wear facemasks.

    Financial Aid book charging: December 14, 2020 – January 13, 2021- in store and online.

    Bookstore hours: Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m

    The Commons space will be open for students to use during building hours with physical distancing measures in place.

    The cafeteria in the Commons area is closed.

    Food service is now available in the Common Grounds Coffee Shop. They’re working on bringing your favorites to the Coffee Shop! Check out the cooler for the grab-n-go items they have to offer, as well as the lunch menu and specials.

    Seating is available in the Commons and picnic tables are set up outside the Commons Door 5 for dining al fresco. Watch for more details.

     

     

    Culinary is currently serving on campus. Watch for more info on possible options for to-go orders.

    The 1-405 Lab will be open with workstations set up for social distancing. Each workstation will be sanitized after use.

    • The 1-405 Lab is open Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

    The Library computer lab has glass between stations and will be available during Library hours:

    • Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

    Before you enter the computer labs, please use the hand sanitizer provided.  

    Customized Training has resumed training and both face-to-face and online courses are offered. 

    For on-campus training, students or students and instructors will wear facemasks and larger rooms will be utilized for social distancing. Be sure to check your email or mail before class for details on locations and any specific requirements for your training.

    If you're still planning on moving to St. Cloud, there are several housing options.

    Because of COVID-19, SCSU is limiting the number of people in dorms, which will reduce the number of SCTCC students they'll be able to accept in residential halls during the 2020-2021 Academic Year. Priority will be given to SCSU students for room assignments. Be in close contact with SCSU Residential Life to discuss your housing options.

    If you're in need of a laptop to complete your coursework, SCTCC has a limited number of laptops for student academic use.

    56 laptops will be available for checkout for student checkout. Laptops may be checked out during regular computer lab hours in the 1-405 Computer Lab, which will be open Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m.

    You can reserve a study room for a single person, or use one of the computers set up to keep you socially distant. 

    Curbside Checkout

    We also offer Curbside Checkout service, so you can get material without coming inside. Email library@sctcc.edu or call 320-308-5141 to get your materials.

    Drop-in Zoom Hours

    Our librarian, Mary, is available every Thursday for Zoom office hours from 10 until noon.  https://minnstate.zoom.us/j/91792207781, use code 1234 to get into the Waiting Room. 

    Mary is also available to Zoom with you, to look for library materials or to do other online research you need for classes. This service is available even outside of regular library hours. Email to library@sctcc.edu to set up an appointment! You can do this yourself, or ask a couple of friends or classmates to join in and chat about the work you need to do.

    Current students who have a permit from last year can use the same permit.

    New students aren't required to display a permit on their car, but if you're going to be on campus, it's a good idea to register your car at this link.

    Are you ready to get those student discounts?

    Here's how to get your student ID if you are a new student:

    1. Upload your photo for your ID at this link
    2. We'll get started on creating your ID card
    3. Check your SCTCC email - you will get an email when your ID is ready
    4. You can come to campus and pick it up

    Ready to pick up? Your ID will be in the 1-405 Computer Lab across from Admissions.

    The Veterans Resource Center will be closed until further notice.

    The Quiet Room and Lactation Room will be open weekdays from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

    Watch for signage on seating areas and make sure to keep physical distancing in mind.

    The lockers on campus won't be available to rent this semester.

    Northway (Main) Building: 6:45 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Friday. Signage will be posted to the doors to let you know which doors are open and which are locked.

    Health Sciences: 6:45 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday. HSB will have one designated entrance and exit. Please watch the signs in the hallway to make sure you're moving the correct direction.

    Heartland (Library): 6:45 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

    Northway Building Open Doors: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, 14, 15, 16, 17
