SCTCC's Practical Nursing program is now accepting applications for people who are in refugee status or children of refugees.
Eligible students will have the costs of the PN education paid for with student scholarships.
A refugee is someone who:
- Was or is located outside of the United States
- Is of special humanitarian concern to the US
- Demonstrates that they were persecuted or fear persecution due to race, religion, nationality, political opinion, or membership in a particular social group
- Is not firmly resettled in another country
- Is admissible to the United States
- The PN program is a 40-credit diploma and is completed in two semesters.
- Students are being accepted for Fall 2024, 2025, and 2026.
- Graduates are eligible to take the NCLEX-PN exam to become a licensed practical nurse (LPN).
- Student Success Mentor and Career Coaching: guidance for your academic and career goals
- In-person and Online Tutoring: extra assistance to excel in your classes
- Center for Academic Success: refine your study skills and find a quiet place to do homework
- Wellness Resource Services: short-term mental health counseling and connections to community resources
The Practical Nursing Career Grant Pathway has a two-step application process.

- Complete your pre-requisite classes or transfer classes to SCTCC from another college. Review the information packet or chat with an Academic Advisor about this.

Paying for College
Students first apply for financial aid to determine eligibility. Scholarships are available for those who are eligible.
The first step is to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at studentaid.gov and use code 005534 for the school code.
For scholarships to help with paying for pre-requisite classes, SCTCC offers many scholarships through its Foundation. Just fill out one application.
